2019-08-02drm/amdgpu: Mark KFD VRAM allocations for wipe on releaseFelix Kuehling
Memory used by KFD applications can contain sensitive information that should not be leaked to other processes. The current approach to prevent leaks is to clear VRAM at allocation time. This is not effective because memory can be reused in other ways without being cleared. Synchronously clearing memory on the allocation path also carries a significant performance penalty. Stop clearing memory at allocation time. Instead mark the memory for wipe on release. An upcoming change in the hmm_range_register API requires passing in a pointer to an hmm_mirror instead of mm_struct. Restore the code that resets mem->invalid. Othewise so mapping userptrs after they got an MMU notifiers would always be skipped. This also avoids unnecessarily calling get_user_pages on BOs that have not been invalidated since the last try. We don't want eviction fences to trigger when waiting for page table updates to complete during restore. In theory there shouldn't be any unsignaled eviction fences in the PD reservation object, but I'm seeing them in instrumented code for reasons not fully understood. Userptr restore may have concurrent userptr invalidation after hmm_vma_fault adds the range to the hmm->ranges list, needs call hmm_vma_range_done to remove the range from hmm->ranges list first, then reschedule the restore worker. Otherwise hmm_vma_fault will add same range to the list, this will cause loop in the list because range->next point to range itself. Add function untrack_invalid_user_pages to reduce code duplication. 2019-05-24drm/amdgpu: replace get_user_pages with HMM mirror helpersPhilip Yang
Use HMM helper function hmm_vma_fault() to get physical pages backing userptr and start CPU page table update track of those pages. Then use hmm_vma_range_done() to check if those pages are updated before amdgpu_cs_submit for gfx or before user queues are resumed for kfd. If userptr pages are updated, for gfx, amdgpu_cs_ioctl will restart from scratch, for kfd, restore worker is rescheduled to retry. HMM simplify the CPU page table concurrent update check, so remove guptasklock, mmu_invalidations, last_set_pages fields from amdgpu_ttm_tt struct. HMM does not pin the page (increase page ref count), so remove related operations like release_pages(), put_page(), mark_page_dirty(). This is used for interoperability between ROCm compute and graphics APIs. It allows importing graphics driver BOs into the ROCm SVM address space for zero-copy GPU access. The API is split into two steps (query and import) to allow user mode to manage the virtual address space allocation for the imported buffer. This change prepares for adding SG BOs that will be used for mapping doorbells into GPUVM address space. This type of BO would be mistaken for an invalid userptr BO. 2018-11-20drm/amdkfd: Fix and simplify sync object handling for KFDFelix Kuehling
The adev parameter in amdgpu_sync_fence and amdgpu_sync_resv is only needed for updating sync->last_vm_update. This breaks if different adevs are passed to calls for the same sync object. Always pass NULL for calls from KFD because sync objects used for KFD don't belong to any particular device, and KFD doesn't need the sync->last_vm_update fence. This fixes kernel log warnings on multi-GPU systems after recent changes in amdgpu_amdkfd_gpuvm_restore_process_bos. PD or PT might have to be moved during validation and this move has to be completed before updating it. If page table updates are done using SDMA then this serializing is done by SDMA command submission. And if PD/PT updates are done by CPU, then explicit waiting for PD/PT updates are done in amdgpu VM amdgpu_vm_wait_pd function. Sync to PD BO moving fence to handle corner case where none of the PTs are updated but PD is evicted. To make a amdgpu vm to a compute vm, the old pasid will be freed and replaced with a pasid managed by kfd. Kfd can't reuse original pasid allocated by amdgpu because kfd uses different pasid policy with amdgpu.
