2021-11-05drm/ttm: remove ttm_bo_vm_insert_huge()Jason Gunthorpe
The huge page functionality in TTM does not work safely because PUD and PMD entries do not have a special bit. get_user_pages_fast() considers any page that passed pmd_huge() as usable: if (unlikely(pmd_trans_huge(pmd) || pmd_huge(pmd) || pmd_devmap(pmd))) { And vmf_insert_pfn_pmd_prot() unconditionally sets entry = pmd_mkhuge(pfn_t_pmd(pfn, prot)); eg on x86 the page will be _PAGE_PRESENT | PAGE_PSE. As such gup_huge_pmd() will try to deref a struct page: head = try_grab_compound_head(pmd_page(orig), refs, flags); and thus crash. Thomas further notices that the drivers are not expecting the struct page to be used by anything - in particular the refcount incr above will cause them to malfunction. Thus everything about this is not able to fully work correctly considering GUP_fast. Delete it entirely. It can return someday along with a proper PMD/PUD_SPECIAL bit in the page table itself to gate GUP_fast. 2021-07-16drm/amdgpu: workaround failed COW checks for Thunk VMAsFelix Kuehling
KFD Thunk maps invisible VRAM BOs with PROT_NONE, MAP_PRIVATE. is_cow_mapping returns true for these mappings, which causes mmap to fail in ttm_bo_mmap_obj. As a workaround, clear VM_MAYWRITE for PROT_NONE-COW mappings. This should prevent the mapping from ever becoming writable and makes is_cow_mapping(vm_flags) false. 2021-06-22drm/amdgpu: rework dma_resv handling v3Christian König
Drop the workaround and instead implement a better solution. Basically we are now chaining all submissions using a dma_fence_chain container and adding them as exclusive fence to the dma_resv object. 2021-05-26drm/amdgpu: Implement mmap as GEM object functionThomas Zimmermann
Moving the driver-specific mmap code into a GEM object function allows for using DRM helpers for various mmap callbacks. This change resolves several inconsistencies between regular mmap and prime-based mmap. The vm_ops field in vma is now set for all mmap'ed areas. Previously it way only set for regular mmap calls, prime-based mmap used TTM's default vm_ops. The function amdgpu_verify_access() is no longer being called and therefore removed by this patch. This patch replaces the vmap/vunmap's use of raw pointers in GEM object functions with instances of struct dma_buf_map. GEM backends are converted as well. For most of them, this simply changes the returned type. TTM-based drivers now return information about the location of the memory, either system or I/O memory. GEM VRAM helpers and qxl now use ttm_bo_vmap() et al. The whole approach wasn't thought through till the end. We already had a reset lock like this in the past and it caused the same problems like this one. when GPU hang, driver has multi-paths to enter amdgpu_device_gpu_recover, the atomic adev->in_gpu_reset and hive->in_reset are used to avoid re-entering GPU recovery. During GPU reset and resume, it is unsafe that other threads access GPU, which maybe cause GPU reset failed. 2020-04-28drm/amdgpu: implement TMZ accessor (v3)Luben Tuikov
Implement an accessor of adev->tmz.enabled. Let not code around access it as "if (adev->tmz.enabled)" as the organization may change. Instead... Recruit "bool amdgpu_is_tmz(adev)" to return exactly this Boolean value. That is, this function is now an accessor of an already initialized and set adev and adev->tmz. Add "void amdgpu_gmc_tmz_set(adev)" to check and set adev->gmc.tmz_enabled at initialization time. After which one uses "bool amdgpu_is_tmz(adev)" to query whether adev supports TMZ.
