2021-02-25drm/arc: Inline remaining filesDaniel Vetter
At less than 500 lines total feels like the right thing to do. Also noticed that the simple wrapper around drm_connector_cleanup can be dropped. 2021-02-25drm/arc: Convert to drm_simple_kms_pipe_helperDaniel Vetter
Really straighforward, only slight issue is that the sim connector is created after the pipe is set up, so can't use the helpers perfectly yet. Subsequent patches will fix that. Aside from lots of deleting code no functional changes in here. v2: Delete now unused crtc funcs (0day) v3: Move endcoder setup removal to right patch (Sam) Acked-by: Thomas Zimmermann <tzimmermann@suse.de> Cc: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Acked-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Cc: Eugeniy Paltsev <Eugeniy.Paltsev@synopsys.com> Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@intel.com> Cc: Alexey Brodkin <abrodkin@synopsys.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20210112084358.2771527-9-daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch
2021-02-25drm/arc: Use drmm_mode_config_cleanupDaniel Vetter
With autocleanup through drm_device management we can delete all the code. Possible now that there's no confusion against devm_kzalloc'ed structures anymore. I inlined arcpgu_setup_mode_config because it's tiny and the newly needed return value handling would have been more ... 2021-02-25drm/arc: Drop surplus connector registrationDaniel Vetter
drm_connector_register does nothing before drm_dev_register(), it is meant for hotpluggable connectors only. Same for the unregister side. 2021-02-25drm/arc: Embedd a drm_connector for sim caseDaniel Vetter
Removes the last devm_kzalloc, which means we're now prepared to use drmm_mode_config_cleanup! 2021-02-25drm/arc: Embedded a drm_simple_display_pipeDaniel Vetter
This is a prep step to convert arc over to the simple kms helpers, for now we just use this as an embedding container to drop all the various allocations. Big change is the removal of the various devm_kzalloc, which have the wrong lifetimes anyway. 2019-01-24drm: Split out drm_probe_helper.hDaniel Vetter
Having the probe helper stuff (which pretty much everyone needs) in the drm_crtc_helper.h file (which atomic drivers should never need) is confusing. Split them out. To make sure I actually achieved the goal here I went through all drivers. And indeed, all atomic drivers are now free of drm_crtc_helper.h includes. v2: Make it compile. There was so much compile fail on arm drivers that I figured I'll better not include any of the acks on v1. v3: Massive rebase because i915 has lost a lot of drmP.h includes, but not all: Through drm_crtc_helper.h > drm_modeset_helper.h -> drmP.h there was still one, which this patch largely removes. Which means rolling out lots more includes all over. This will also conflict with ongoing drmP.h cleanup by others I expect. v3: Rebase on top of atomic bochs. v4: Review from Laurent for bridge/rcar/omap/shmob/core bits: - (re)move some of the added includes, use the better include files in other places (all suggested from Laurent adopted unchanged). - sort alphabetically v5: Actually try to sort them, and while at it, sort all the ones I touch. v6: Rebase onto i915 changes. v7: Rebase once more. 2019-01-24drm/arcpgu: prepare for drmP.h removal from drm_modeset_helper.hSam Ravnborg
The use of drmP.h is discouraged and removal of it from drm_modeset_helper.h caused arcgpu to fail to build. This patch introduce the necessary fixes to prepare for the drmP.h removal from drm_modeset_helper.h. List of include files sorted alphabetically. Build tested on arm x86 and arm allmodconfig. 2018-01-30drm/arcpgu: remove drm_encoder_slaveDaniel Vetter
drm_encoder_slave is the old way to write bridge drivers, for i2c bridges only. It's deprecated, and definitely should not be used in new drivers. This has absolutely nothing to do with the new bridge driver infrastructure implemented by drm_bridge. What's even strange is that arcpgu doesn't even use any of this, it really only wants a plain normal drm_encoder. Nuke all the surplus real estate. v2: Actually git add after compile testing ... v3: Clarify commit message and stop including drm_encoder_slave.h. 2016-12-01drm: Make the connector .detect() callback optionalLaurent Pinchart
Many drivers (21 to be exact) create connectors that are always connected (for instance to an LVDS or DSI panel). Instead of forcing them to implement a dummy .detect() handler, make the callback optional and consider the connector as always connected in that case.
