2024-08-12drm/i915/bios: convert to struct intel_displayJani Nikula
Going forward, struct intel_display shall replace struct drm_i915_private as the main display device data pointer type. Convert intel_bios.[ch] to struct intel_display. Do one drive-by conversion of unnecessary hex usage to decimal. 2023-09-11drm/i915: Only check eDP HPD when AUX CH is sharedVille Syrjälä
Apparently Acer Chromebook C740 (BDW-ULT) doesn't have the eDP HPD line properly connected, and thus fails the new HPD check during eDP probe. The result is that we lose the eDP output. I suspect all such machines would be Chromebooks or other Linux exclusive systems as the Windows driver likely wouldn't work either. I did check a few other BDW machines here and those do have eDP HPD connected, one of them even is a different Chromebook (Samus). To account for these funky machines let's skip the HPD check when it looks like the eDP port is the only one using that specific AUX channel. In case of multiple ports sharing the same AUX CH (eg. on Asrock B250M-HDV) we still do the check and thus should correctly ignore the eDP port in favor of the other DP port (usually a DP->VGA converter). v2: Don't oops during list iteration Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org Closes: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/intel/-/issues/9264 Fixes: cfe5bdfb27fa ("drm/i915: Check HPD live state during eDP probe") Signed-off-by: Ville Syrjälä <ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20230908052527.685-1-ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com Reviewed-by: Luca Coelho <luciano.coelho@intel.com>
2023-07-06drm/i915: Try to initialize DDI/ICL+ DSI ports for every VBT child deviceVille Syrjälä
Try to deal with duplicate child devices for the same DDI port by attempting to initialize them in VBT defined order The first on to succeed for a specific DDI port will be the one we use. We'll also get rid of i915->display.vbt.ports[] here as any conflicts will now be handled at encoder registration time rather than during VBT parsing. Note that intel_bios_encoder_data_lookup() still remaims for pre-DDI DP/HDMI ports as those don't (at least yet) use VBT driven initialization. 2023-02-17drm/i915: Restructure intel_bios_port_aux_ch()Ville Syrjälä
Restructure intel_bios_port_aux_ch() to resemble the ddc_pin counterpart, where the intel_bios.c stuff only deals with the child device definition, and the platform default will come from elsewhere. This requires the introduction of AUX_CH_NONE as the value 0 is already taken to mean AUX_CH_A. v2: Sort includes alphabetically (Ankit) vCould we ask them to do a BIOS fix for all of them so that we wouldn't keep getting these bug reports for each model separately? 2022-12-09drm/i915: Do panel VBT init early if the VBT declares an explicit panel typeVille Syrjälä
Lots of ADL machines out there with bogus VBTs that declare two eDP child devices. In order for those to work we need to figure out which power sequencer to use before we try the EDID read. So let's do the panel VBT init early if we can, falling back to the post-EDID init otherwise. The post-EDID init panel_type=0xff approach of assuming the power sequencer should already be enabled doesn't really work with multiple eDP panels, and currently we just end up using the same power sequencer for both eDP ports, which at least confuses the wakeref tracking, and potentially also causes us to toggle the VDD for the panel when we should not. 2022-05-27drm/i915/bios: Split VBT data into per-panel vs. global partsVille Syrjälä
Move the panel specific VBT parsing to happen during the output probing stage. Needs to be done because the VBT parsing will need to look at the EDID to determine the correct panel_type on some machines. We split the parsed VBT data (i915->vbt) along the same boundary. For the moment we just hoist all the panel specific stuff into connector->panel.vbt since that seems like the most convenient place for eg. the backlight code. Note that we simply drop the drrs type check from intel_drrs_frontbuffer_update() since that operates on the whole device rather than a specific connector/encoder. But the check was just a micro optimization so removing it doesn't actually mattter for correctness. TODO: Lot's of cleanup to be done in the future. Eg. most of the DSI stuff could probably be eliminated entirely and just parsed on demand during DSI init. v2: Note the intel_drrs_frontbuffer_update() change Signed-off-by: Ville Syrjälä <ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20220510104242.6099-13-ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com Reviewed-by: Jani Nikula <jani.nikula@intel.com>

2019-08-30drm: Move port definition back to i915 headerRamalingam C
We dont need the definition of the enum port outside I915, anymore. Hence move enum port definition into I915 driver itself. v2: intel_display.h is included in intel_hdcp.h v3: enum port is declared in headers. v4: commit msg is rephrased. v5: copyright year is updated [Tomas] Signed-off-by: Ramalingam C <ramalingam.c@intel.com> Reviewed-by: Jani Nikula <jani.nikula@intel.com> Reviewed-by: Shashank Sharma <shashank.sharma@intel.com> Reviewed-by: Tomas Winkler <tomas.winkler@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Uma Shankar <uma.shankar@intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20190828164216.405-3-ramalingam.c@intel.com
2019-07-12drm/i915: Propagate "_remove" function name suffix downJanusz Krzysztofik
Similar to the "_release" case, consistently replace mixed "_cleanup"/"_fini"/"_fini_hw" components found in names of functions called from i915_driver_remove() with "_remove" or "_driver_remove" suffixes for better code readability. 2019-06-26drm/i915: Check backlight type while doing eDP backlight initializaitonLee Shawn C
If LFP backlight type setting from VBT was "VESA eDP AUX Interface". Driver should check panel capability and try to initialize aux backlight. No matter i915_modparams.enable_dpcd_backlight was enabled or not. v2: access dev_priv->vbt.backlight.type directly and remove unused function. v3: 1. Modify i915.enable_dpcd_backlight type from bool to int and give default value as 0 (disable). 2. Add a judgement to check LFP backlight type was aux interface or not. 2019-06-17drm/i915: move modesetting core code under display/Jani Nikula
Now that we have a new subdirectory for display code, continue by moving modesetting core code. display/intel_frontbuffer.h sticks out like a sore thumb, otherwise this is, again, a surprisingly clean operation. v2: - don't move intel_sideband.[ch] (Ville) - use tabs for Makefile file lists and sort them Cc: Chris Wilson <chris@chris-wilson.co.uk> Cc: Joonas Lahtinen <joonas.lahtinen@linux.intel.com> Cc: Rodrigo Vivi <rodrigo.vivi@intel.com> Cc: Ville Syrjälä <ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com> Reviewed-by: Chris Wilson <chris@chris-wilson.co.uk> Acked-by: Rodrigo Vivi <rodrigo.vivi@intel.com> Acked-by: Maarten Lankhorst <maarten.lankhorst@linux.intel.com> Acked-by: Ville Syrjälä <ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: Jani Nikula <jani.nikula@intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20190613084416.6794-3-jani.nikula@intel.com
