2020-12-15drm/omap: remove dss_mgr_opsTomi Valkeinen
dss_mgr_ops was needed with the multi-module architecture, but is no longer needed. We can thus remove it and use direct calls. 2020-12-15drm/omap: remove dispc_opsTomi Valkeinen

Instead of call the dispc timings check function dispc_mgr_timings_ok() from the internal encoders .check_timings() operation, expose it through the dispc ops (after renaming it to check_timings) and call it directly from omapdrm. 2018-09-03drm/omap: Remove supported output check in CRTC connect handlerLaurent Pinchart
The CRTC connect handler checks whether the DSS output supports the DISPC channel assigned to it. As the channel is assigned to the output by the output driver a failure there could only result from a driver bug. All the output drivers have been verified and they are always assigned a DISPC channel that is supported on the SoC they run on. The check can thus be removed. 2018-06-28drm/omap: Implement workaround for DRA7 errata ID:i932Venkateswara Rao Mandela
Description of DRA7 Errata i932: In rare circumstances DPLL_VIDEO1 and DPLL_VIDEO2 PLL's may not lock on the first attempt during DSS initialization. When this occurs, a subsequent attempt to relock the PLL will result in PLL successfully locking. This patch does the following as per the errata recommendation: - retries locking the PLL upto 20 times. - The time to wait for a PLL lock set to 1000 REFCLK cycles. We use usleep_range to wait for 1000 REFCLK cycles in the us range. This tight constraint is imposed as a lock later than 1000 REFCLK cycles may have high jitter. - Criteria for PLL lock is extended from check on just the PLL_LOCK bit to check on 6 PLL_STATUS bits. Silicon Versions Impacted: DRA71, DRA72, DRA74, DRA76 - All silicon revisions AM57x - All silicon revisions OMAP4/5 are not impacted by this errata Signed-off-by: Venkateswara Rao Mandela <venkat.mandela@ti.com> [tomi.valkeinen@ti.com: ported to v4.14] Signed-off-by: Tomi Valkeinen <tomi.valkeinen@ti.com>

2018-03-01drm: omapdrm: dss: Support passing private data to debugfs show handlersLaurent Pinchart
To simplify implementation of debugfs seq_file show handlers, the driver passes the pointer to the show function through the debugfs_create_file data pointer. This prevents using the pointer to pass driver private data to the show handler, and requires all handlers to use global variables to access private data. To prepare for the removal of global private data in the driver, rework the debugfs infrastructure to allow passing a private data pointer to show handlers. The price to pay is explicit removal of debugfs files to free the internally allocated memory. This is desirable anyway as debugfs entries should be removed when a component driver is unbound, otherwise crashes will occur due to access to freed memory when the components will be dynamically allocated instead of stored in global variables. To prepare for the removal of the global variable storing DSS private data, pass its pointer to the dss_runtime_{get,put}() functions. As this requires getting hold of the dss_device structure in the callers, we add a new dss_get_device() function to retrieve it. The function currently returns a pointer to the global data structure, and will later be updated to get the pointer from device driver data when the DSS private structure will be allocated dynamically. 2018-03-01drm: omapdrm: dss: Expose DSS data in a dss_device structureLaurent Pinchart
The anoonymous dss structure in dss.c is the top-level component in the omapdss driver. As such it should store all internal instance-specific data that is currently stored in global variables. This however requires both naming the structure to pass it around functions, and accessing it from various locations in the omapdss driver. While we could implement get and set functions for every field that needs to be accessed outside of dss.c, that would introduce overhead and complexity that we could avoid by exposing the structure to internal components of the omapdss driver. 7d267f068a8b4944d52e8b0ae4c8fcc1c1c5c5ba ("drm/omap: work-around for errata i886") changed how the PLL dividers and multipliers are calculated. While the new way should work fine for all the PLLs, it breaks omap5 PLLs. The issues seen are rather odd: seemed that the output clock rate is half of what we asked. It is unclear what's causing there issues. As a work-around this patch adds a "errata_i886" flag, which is set only for DRA7's PLLs, and the PLL setup is done according to that flag.
