2023-05-17wifi: b43: fix incorrect __packed annotationArnd Bergmann
clang warns about an unpacked structure inside of a packed one: drivers/net/wireless/broadcom/b43/b43.h:654:4: error: field data within 'struct b43_iv' is less aligned than 'union (unnamed union at /home/arnd/arm-soc/drivers/net/wireless/broadcom/b43/b43.h:651:2)' and is usually due to 'struct b43_iv' being packed, which can lead to unaligned accesses [-Werror,-Wunaligned-access] The problem here is that the anonymous union has the default alignment from its members, apparently because the original author mixed up the placement of the __packed attribute by placing it next to the struct member rather than the union definition. As the struct itself is also marked as __packed, there is no need to mark its members, so just move the annotation to the inner type instead. As Michael noted, the same problem is present in b43legacy, so change both at the same time. 2023-05-17wifi: rtw88: sdio: Always use two consecutive bytes for word operationsMartin Blumenstingl
The Allwinner sunxi-mmc controller cannot handle word (16 bit) transfers. So and sdio_{read,write}w fails with messages like the following example using an RTL8822BS (but the same problems were also observed with RTL8822CS and RTL8723DS chips): rtw_8822bs mmc1:0001:1: Firmware version 27.2.0, H2C version 13 sunxi-mmc 4021000.mmc: unaligned scatterlist: os f80 length 2 sunxi-mmc 4021000.mmc: map DMA failed rtw_8822bs mmc1:0001:1: sdio read16 failed (0x10230): -22 Use two consecutive single byte accesses for word operations instead. It turns out that upon closer inspection this is also what the vendor driver does, even though it does have support for sdio_{read,write}w. So we can conclude that the rtw88 chips do support word access but only on SDIO controllers that also support it. Since there's no way to detect if the controller supports word access or not the rtw88 sdio driver switches to the easiest approach: avoiding word access. 2023-05-16wifi: iwlwifi: mvm: Add locking to the rate read flowAriel Malamud
The rs_drv_get_rate flow reads the lq_sta to return the optimal rate for tx frames. This read flow is not protected thereby leaving a small window, a few instructions wide, open to contention by an asynchronous rate update. Indeed this race condition was hit and the update occurred in the middle of the read. Fix this by locking the lq_sta struct during read. 2023-05-16wifi: iwlwifi: mvm: don't trust firmware n_channelsJohannes Berg
If the firmware sends us a corrupted MCC response with n_channels much larger than the command response can be, we might copy far too much (uninitialized) memory and even crash if the n_channels is large enough to make it run out of the one page allocated for the FW response. Fix that by checking the lengths. Doing a < comparison would be sufficient, but the firmware should be doing it correctly, so check more strictly. 2023-05-16wifi: iwlwifi: fw: fix DBGI dumpJohannes Berg
The DBGI dump is (unsurprisingly) of type DBGI, not SRAM. This leads to bad register accesses because the union is built differently, there's no allocation ID, and thus the allocation ID ends up being 0x8000. Note that this was already wrong for DRAM vs. SMEM since they use different parts of the union, but the allocation ID is at the same place, so it worked. Lockdep points out that we can deadlock here by calling cancel_delayed_work_sync() because that might be already running and gotten interrupted by the NAPI soft-IRQ. Even just calling something that can sleep is wrong in this context though. Luckily, it doesn't even really matter since the things we need to do are idempotent, so just drop the _sync(). There are some assertions in the STA removal code that can fail, and in that case we may leak memory since we skip the freeing. Fix this by freeing the dup_data earlier in the function, we already have a check for when we free the station, and this we don't need to do it with and without MLD API, so it's a win all around. 2023-05-15wifi: rtl8xxxu: fix authentication timeout due to incorrect RCR valueYun Lu
When using rtl8192cu with rtl8xxxu driver to connect wifi, there is a probability of failure, which shows "authentication with ... timed out". Through debugging, it was found that the RCR register has been inexplicably modified to an incorrect value, resulting in the nic not being able to receive authenticated frames. To fix this problem, add regrcr in rtl8xxxu_priv struct, and store the RCR value every time the register is written, and use it the next time the register need to be modified. 2023-04-20wifi: rtl8xxxu: Simplify setting the initial gainBitterblue Smith
The goal of writing 0x6954341e / 0x6955341e to REG_OFDM0_XA_AGC_CORE1 appears to be setting the initial gain, which is stored in bits 0..6. Bits 7..31 are the same as what the phy init tables write. Modify only bits 0..6 so that we don't have to care about the values of the others. This way we don't have to add another "else if" for the RTL8192FU. Why we need to change the initial gain from the default 0x20 to 0x1e? Not sure. Some of the vendor drivers change it to 0x1e before scanning and then restore it to the original value after. 2023-04-20wifi: rtw88: set pkg_type correctly for specific rtw8821c variantsSascha Hauer
According to the vendor driver the pkg_type has to be set to '1' for some rtw8821c variants. As the pkg_type has been hardcoded to '0', add a field for it in struct rtw_hal and set this correctly in the rtw8821c part. With this parsing of a rtw_table is influenced and check_positive() in phy.c returns true for some cases here. The same is done in the vendor driver. However, this has no visible effect on the driver here. 2023-04-20wifi: rtw88: rtw8821c: Fix rfe_option field widthSascha Hauer
On my RTW8821CU chipset rfe_option reads as 0x22. Looking at the vendor driver suggests that the field width of rfe_option is 5 bit, so rfe_option should be masked with 0x1f. Without this the rfe_option comparisons with 2 further down the driver evaluate as false when they should really evaluate as true. The effect is that 2G channels do not work. rfe_option is also used as an array index into rtw8821c_rfe_defs[]. rtw8821c_rfe_defs[34] (0x22) was added as part of adding USB support, likely because rfe_option reads as 0x22. As this now becomes 0x2, rtw8821c_rfe_defs[34] is no longer used and can be removed. Note that this might not be the whole truth. In the vendor driver there are indeed places where the unmasked rfe_option value is used. However, the driver has several places where rfe_option is tested with the pattern if (rfe_option == 2 || rfe_option == 0x22) or if (rfe_option == 4 || rfe_option == 0x24), so that rfe_option BIT(5) has no influence on the code path taken. We therefore mask BIT(5) out from rfe_option entirely until this assumption is proved wrong by some chip variant we do not know yet. 2023-04-20wifi: rtw88: usb: fix priority queue to endpoint mappingSascha Hauer
The RTW88 chipsets have four different priority queues in hardware. For the USB type chipsets the packets destined for a specific priority queue must be sent through the endpoint corresponding to the queue. This was not fully understood when porting from the RTW88 USB out of tree driver and thus violated. This patch implements the qsel to endpoint mapping as in get_usb_bulkout_id_88xx() in the downstream driver. Without this the driver often issues "timed out to flush queue 3" warnings and often TX stalls completely. 2023-04-20wifi: rtw88: handle station mode concurrent scan with AP modePo-Hao Huang
This patch allows vifs sharing same hardware with the AP mode vif to do scan, do note that this could lead to packet loss or disconnection of the AP's clients. Since we don't have chanctx, update scan info upon set channel so bandwidth changes won't go unnoticed and get misconfigured after scan. Download beacon just before scan starts to allow hardware to get proper content to do beaconing. Last, beacons should only be transmitted in AP's operating channel. Turn related beacon functions off while we're in other channels so the receiving stations won't get confused.
