2020-06-19drm: encoder_slave: use new I2C APIWolfram Sang
i2c_new_client() is deprecated, use the replacement i2c_new_client_device(). Also, we have a helper to check if a driver is bound. Use it to simplify the code. Note that this changes the errno for a failed device creation from ENOMEM to ENODEV. No callers currently interpret this errno, though, so we use this condensed error check. 2020-06-19drm: encoder_slave: fix refcouting error for modulesWolfram Sang
module_put() balances try_module_get(), not request_module(). Fix the error path to match that. Fixes: 2066facca4c7 ("drm/kms: slave encoder interface.") 2017-01-25drm/kms-core: Use recommened kerneldoc for struct member refsDaniel Vetter
I just learned that &struct_name.member_name works and looks pretty even. It doesn't (yet) link to the member directly though, which would be really good for big structures or vfunc tables (where the per-member kerneldoc tends to be long). Also some minor drive-by polish where it makes sense, I read a lot of docs ... v2: Review from Eric. 2013-10-03drm: encoder_slave: Don't use i2c_client->driverLars-Peter Clausen
The 'driver' field of the i2c_client struct is redundant and is going to be removed. The results of the expressions 'client->driver.driver->field' and 'client->dev.driver->field' are identical, so replace all occurrences of the former with the later. To get direct access to the i2c_driver struct use 'to_i2c_driver(client->dev.driver)'. Signed-off-by: Lars-Peter Clausen <lars@metafoo.de> Signed-off-by: Wolfram Sang <wsa@the-dreams.de>
2013-05-10drm: refactor call to request_moduleKees Cook
This reduces the size of the stack frame when calling request_module(). Performing the sprintf before the call is not needed. Signed-off-by: Kees Cook <keescook@chromium.org> Acked-by: Paul Menzel <paulepanter@users.sourceforge.net> Signed-off-by: Dave Airlie <airlied@redhat.com>

2010-08-05drm/kms: Simplify setup of the initial I2C encoder config.Francisco Jerez
In most use cases the driver will be using the same static config all the time: interpreting i2c_board_info::platform_data as the default config we can can save the GPU driver a redundant set_config() call. 2009-08-04drm/kms: slave encoder interface.Francisco Jerez
Define some helper functions to make easier to detach a KMS encoder implementation from the drm module of the GPU it's used in. This is mainly useful for some external I2C encoders known to be present on cards with GPUs from several different manufacturers.
