Move all the variables used for file change detection into a structure
that can be used by IMA and EVM. Implement an inline function for storing
the identification of an inode and one for detecting changes to an inode
based on this new structure.

Since now IMA and EVM use their own integrity metadata, it is safe to
remove the 'integrity' LSM, with its management of integrity metadata.
Keep the iint.c file only for loading IMA and EVM keys at boot, and for
creating the integrity directory in securityfs (we need to keep it for
retrocompatibility reasons).

In preparation for removing the 'integrity' LSM, move
integrity_kernel_module_request() to IMA, and rename it to
ima_kernel_module_request(). Rewrite the function documentation, to explain
better what the problem is.
Compile it conditionally if CONFIG_INTEGRITY_ASYMMETRIC_KEYS is enabled,
and call it from security.c (removed afterwards with the move of IMA to the
LSM infrastructure).
Adding this hook cannot be avoided, since IMA has no control on the flags
passed to crypto_alloc_sig() in public_key_verify_signature(), and thus
cannot pass CRYPTO_NOLOAD, which solved the problem for EVM hashing with
commit e2861fa71641 ("evm: Don't deadlock if a crypto algorithm is
unavailable").
EVM alone does not need to implement this hook, first because there is no
mutex to deadlock, and second because even if it had it, there should be a
recursive call. However, since verification from EVM can be initiated only
by setting inode metadata, deadlock would occur if modprobe would do the
same while loading a kernel module (which is unlikely).

If files with portable signatures are copied from one location to another
or are extracted from an archive, verification can temporarily fail until
all xattrs/attrs are set in the destination. Only portable signatures may
be moved or copied from one file to another, as they don't depend on
system-specific information such as the inode generation. Instead portable
signatures must include security.ima.
Unlike other security.evm types, EVM portable signatures are also
immutable. Thus, it wouldn't be a problem to allow xattr/attr operations
when verification fails, as portable signatures will never be replaced with
the HMAC on possibly corrupted xattrs/attrs.
This patch first introduces a new integrity status called
INTEGRITY_FAIL_IMMUTABLE, that allows callers of
evm_verify_current_integrity() to detect that a portable signature didn't
pass verification and then adds an exception in evm_protect_xattr() and
evm_inode_setattr() for this status and returns 0 instead of -EPERM.

This patch aimed to prevent deadlock during digsig verification. The point
of issue - user space utility modprobe and/or it's dependencies (ld-*.so,
libz.so.*, libc-*.so and /lib/modules/ files) that could be used for
kernel modules load during digsig verification and could be signed by
digsig in the same time.
First at all, look at crypto_alloc_tfm() work algorithm:
crypto_alloc_tfm() will first attempt to locate an already loaded
algorithm. If that fails and the kernel supports dynamically loadable
modules, it will then attempt to load a module of the same name or alias.
If that fails it will send a query to any loaded crypto manager to
construct an algorithm on the fly.
We have situation, when public_key_verify_signature() in case of RSA
algorithm use alg_name to store internal information in order to construct
an algorithm on the fly, but crypto_larval_lookup() will try to use
alg_name in order to load kernel module with same name.
1) we can't do anything with crypto module work, since it designed to work
exactly in this way;
2) we can't globally filter module requests for modprobe, since it
designed to work with any requests.
In this patch, I propose add an exception for "crypto-pkcs1pad(rsa,*)"
module requests only in case of enabled integrity asymmetric keys support.
Since we don't have any real "crypto-pkcs1pad(rsa,*)" kernel modules for
sure, we are safe to fail such module request from crypto_larval_lookup().
In this way we prevent modprobe execution during digsig verification and
avoid possible deadlock if modprobe and/or it's dependencies also signed
with digsig.
Requested "crypto-pkcs1pad(rsa,*)" kernel module name formed by:
1) "pkcs1pad(rsa,%s)" in public_key_verify_signature();
2) "crypto-%s" / "crypto-%s-all" in crypto_larval_lookup().
"crypto-pkcs1pad(rsa," part of request is a constant and unique and could
be used as filter.

The EVM signature includes the inode number and (optionally) the
filesystem UUID, making it impractical to ship EVM signatures in
packages. This patch adds a new portable format intended to allow
distributions to include EVM signatures. It is identical to the existing
format but hardcodes the inode and generation numbers to 0 and does not
include the filesystem UUID even if the kernel is configured to do so.
Removing the inode means that the metadata and signature from one file
could be copied to another file without invalidating it. This is avoided
by ensuring that an IMA xattr is present during EVM validation.
Portable signatures are intended to be immutable - ie, they will never
be transformed into HMACs.

Keys can only be loaded once the rootfs is mounted. Initcalls
are not suitable for that. This patch defines a special hook
to load the x509 public keys onto the IMA keyring, before
attempting to access any file. The keys are required for
verifying the file's signature. The hook is called after the
root filesystem is mounted and before the kernel calls 'init'.
Changes in v3:
* added more explanation to the patch description (Mimi)
Changes in v2:
* Hook renamed as 'integrity_load_keys()' to handle both IMA and EVM
keys by integrity subsystem.
* Hook patch moved after defining loading functions

With IMA-appraisal's removal of the iint mutex and taking the i_mutex
instead, allocating the iint becomes a lot simplier, as we don't need
to be concerned with two processes racing to allocate the iint. This
patch cleans up and improves performance for allocating the iint.
- removed redundant double i_mutex locking
- combined iint allocation with tree search
Changelog v2:
- removed the rwlock/read_lock changes from this patch

Before permitting 'security.evm' to be updated, 'security.evm' must
exist and be valid. In the case that there are no existing EVM protected
xattrs, it is safe for posix acls to update the mode bits.
To differentiate between no 'security.evm' xattr and no xattrs used to
calculate 'security.evm', this patch defines INTEGRITY_NOXATTR.

EVM protects a file's security extended attributes(xattrs) against integrity
attacks. The current patchset maintains an HMAC-sha1 value across the security
xattrs, storing the value as the extended attribute 'security.evm'. We
anticipate other methods for protecting the security extended attributes.
This patch reserves the first byte of 'security.evm' as a place holder for
the type of method.
Changelog v6:
- move evm_ima_xattr_type definition to security/integrity/integrity.h
- defined a structure for the EVM xattr called evm_ima_xattr_data
(based on Serge Hallyn's suggestion)
- removed unnecessary memset

EVM protects a file's security extended attributes(xattrs) against integrity
attacks. This patchset provides the framework and an initial method. The
initial method maintains an HMAC-sha1 value across the security extended
attributes, storing the HMAC value as the extended attribute 'security.evm'.
Other methods of validating the integrity of a file's metadata will be posted
separately (eg. EVM-digital-signatures).
While this patchset does authenticate the security xattrs, and
cryptographically binds them to the inode, coming extensions will bind other
directory and inode metadata for more complete protection. To help simplify
the review and upstreaming process, each extension will be posted separately
(eg. IMA-appraisal, IMA-appraisal-directory). For a general overview of the
proposed Linux integrity subsystem, refer to Dave Safford's whitepaper:
http://downloads.sf.net/project/linux-ima/linux-ima/Integrity_overview.pdf.
EVM depends on the Kernel Key Retention System to provide it with a
trusted/encrypted key for the HMAC-sha1 operation. The key is loaded onto the
root's keyring using keyctl. Until EVM receives notification that the key has
been successfully loaded onto the keyring (echo 1 > <securityfs>/evm), EVM can
not create or validate the 'security.evm' xattr, but returns INTEGRITY_UNKNOWN.
Loading the key and signaling EVM should be done as early as possible. Normally
this is done in the initramfs, which has already been measured as part of the
trusted boot. For more information on creating and loading existing
trusted/encrypted keys, refer to Documentation/keys-trusted-encrypted.txt. A
sample dracut patch, which loads the trusted/encrypted key and enables EVM, is
available from http://linux-ima.sourceforge.net/#EVM.
Based on the LSMs enabled, the set of EVM protected security xattrs is defined
at compile. EVM adds the following three calls to the existing security hooks:
evm_inode_setxattr(), evm_inode_post_setxattr(), and evm_inode_removexattr. To
initialize and update the 'security.evm' extended attribute, EVM defines three
calls: evm_inode_post_init(), evm_inode_post_setattr() and
evm_inode_post_removexattr() hooks. To verify the integrity of a security
xattr, EVM exports evm_verifyxattr().
Changelog v7:
- Fixed URL in EVM ABI documentation
Changelog v6: (based on Serge Hallyn's review)
- fix URL in patch description
- remove evm_hmac_size definition
- use SHA1_DIGEST_SIZE (removed both MAX_DIGEST_SIZE and evm_hmac_size)
- moved linux include before other includes
- test for crypto_hash_setkey failure
- fail earlier for invalid key
- clear entire encrypted key, even on failure
- check xattr name length before comparing xattr names
Changelog:
- locking based on i_mutex, remove evm_mutex
- using trusted/encrypted keys for storing the EVM key used in the HMAC-sha1
operation.
- replaced crypto hash with shash (Dmitry Kasatkin)
- support for additional methods of verifying the security xattrs
(Dmitry Kasatkin)
