2024-10-21netfilter: xtables: fix typo causing some targets not to load on IPv6Pablo Neira Ayuso
- There is no NFPROTO_IPV6 family for mark and NFLOG. - TRACE is also missing module autoload with NFPROTO_IPV6. This results in ip6tables failing to restore a ruleset. This issue has been reported by several users providing incomplete patches. Very similar to Ilya Katsnelson's patch including a missing chunk in the TRACE extension. 2024-10-09netfilter: xtables: avoid NFPROTO_UNSPEC where neededFlorian Westphal
syzbot managed to call xt_cluster match via ebtables: WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 11 at net/netfilter/xt_cluster.c:72 xt_cluster_mt+0x196/0x780 [..] ebt_do_table+0x174b/0x2a40 Module registers to NFPROTO_UNSPEC, but it assumes ipv4/ipv6 packet processing. As this is only useful to restrict locally terminating TCP/UDP traffic, register this for ipv4 and ipv6 family only. Pablo points out that this is a general issue, direct users of the set/getsockopt interface can call into targets/matches that were only intended for use with ip(6)tables. Check all UNSPEC matches and targets for similar issues: - matches and targets are fine except if they assume skb_network_header() is valid -- this is only true when called from inet layer: ip(6) stack pulls the ip/ipv6 header into linear data area. - targets that return XT_CONTINUE or other xtables verdicts must be restricted too, they are incompatbile with the ebtables traverser, e.g. EBT_CONTINUE is a completely different value than XT_CONTINUE. Most matches/targets are changed to register for NFPROTO_IPV4/IPV6, as they are provided for use by ip(6)tables. The MARK target is also used by arptables, so register for NFPROTO_ARP too. While at it, bail out if connbytes fails to enable the corresponding conntrack family. This change passes the selftests in iptables.git. 2021-03-31netfilter: nf_log: add module softdepsFlorian Westphal
xt_LOG has no direct dependency on the syslog-based logger, it relies on the nf_log core to probe the requested backend. Now that all syslog-based loggers reside in the same module, we can just add a soft dependency on nf_log_syslog and let modprobe take care of it. 2019-05-21treewide: Add SPDX license identifier for more missed filesThomas Gleixner
Add SPDX license identifiers to all files which: - Have no license information of any form - Have MODULE_LICENCE("GPL*") inside which was used in the initial scan/conversion to ignore the file These files fall under the project license, GPL v2 only. The resulting SPDX license identifier is: GPL-2.0-only Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2016-06-23netfilter: xt_TRACE: add explicitly nf_logger_find_get callLiping Zhang
Consider such situation, if nf_log_ipv4 kernel module is not installed, and the user add a following iptables rule: # iptables -t raw -I PREROUTING -j TRACE There will be no trace log generated until the user install nf_log_ipv4 module manully. So we should add request related nf_log module appropriately here. 2008-10-08netfilter: implement NFPROTO_UNSPEC as a wildcard for extensionsJan Engelhardt
When a match or target is looked up using xt_find_{match,target}, Xtables will also search the NFPROTO_UNSPEC module list. This allows for protocol-independent extensions (like xt_time) to be reused from other components (e.g. arptables, ebtables). Extensions that take different codepaths depending on match->family or target->family of course cannot use NFPROTO_UNSPEC within the registration structure (e.g. xt_pkttype).
