2024-10-17ASoC: rsnd: Refactor port handling with helper for endpoint node selectionLad Prabhakar
Refactor the code responsible for selecting the correct device node for audio endpoint parsing in the rsnd driver. A new helper function `rsnd_pick_endpoint_node_for_ports()` is introduced to handle the selection of the endpoint node by checking whether the port is named 'port' or 'ports'. This change simplifies the logic in both `rsnd_dai_of_node()` and `rsnd_dai_probe()` functions by replacing repetitive condition checks with the new helper. 2024-10-11ASoC: rsnd: Fix probe failure on HiHope boards due to endpoint parsingLad Prabhakar
On the HiHope boards, we have a single port with a single endpoint defined as below: .... rsnd_port: port { rsnd_endpoint: endpoint { remote-endpoint = <&dw_hdmi0_snd_in>; dai-format = "i2s"; bitclock-master = <&rsnd_endpoint>; frame-master = <&rsnd_endpoint>; playback = <&ssi2>; }; }; .... With commit 547b02f74e4a ("ASoC: rsnd: enable multi Component support for Audio Graph Card/Card2"), support for multiple ports was added. This caused probe failures on HiHope boards, as the endpoint could not be retrieved due to incorrect device node pointers being used. This patch fixes the issue by updating the `rsnd_dai_of_node()` and `rsnd_dai_probe()` functions to use the correct device node pointers based on the port names ('port' or 'ports'). It ensures that the endpoint is properly parsed for both single and multi-port configurations, restoring compatibility with HiHope boards. 2024-09-09ASoC: Switch back to struct platform_driver::remove()Uwe Kleine-König
After commit 0edb555a65d1 ("platform: Make platform_driver::remove() return void") .remove() is (again) the right callback to implement for platform drivers. Convert all drivers below sound/soc to use .remove(), with the eventual goal to drop struct platform_driver::remove_new(). As .remove() and .remove_new() have the same prototypes, conversion is done by just changing the structure member name in the driver initializer. 2024-04-02ASoC: rsnd: R-Car Gen1/Gen2 exceptionKuninori Morimoto
Renesas Sound driver is using rsnd_is_genX() macro to handling difference. We can use "grep rsnd_is_gen" to find-out difference for each SoC today. In general, driver uses flag to handling SoC difference. But in Renesas Sound case, the differences are very specific, if you try to make it general, the code will become be very complicated. Some of them can use flag to handling, but we can find-out all diffence by using "grep rsnd_is_gen" today. It is not so good, but not so bad so far. So we will keep current style for a while. This patch cares Gen1/Gen2 exception by using negative handling to makes no more update for this part when we support Gen5 or later. - if (rsnd_is_gen3() || rsnd_is_gen4() || rsnd_is_gen5() || ...) + if (!rsnd_is_gen1() && !rsnd_is_gen2()) Signed-off-by: Kuninori Morimoto <kuninori.morimoto.gx@renesas.com> Link: https://msgid.link/r/87wmpga4ds.wl-kuninori.morimoto.gx@renesas.com Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <broonie@kernel.org>
2023-10-09ASoC: Explicitly include correct DT includesRob Herring
The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it was merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. 2023-03-20ASoC: sh: rcar: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. 2021-05-27ASoC: rsnd: protect mod->statusKuninori Morimoto
Renesas Sound uses many modules (SSI/SSIU/SRC/CTU/MIX/DVC/DMA), and supports complex connections/path. Thus each modules needs to save its status to correctly control it. This status is updated when by .trigger, and .hw_params/.hw_free. Renesas Sound is protecting modules by using lock when .trigger, but it was not enough to protecting each modules "status" if it was used from many paths. 1) .hw_params/.hw_free update status 2) another doesn't update status, but overwrites by same value This patch do 1) protects .hw_params/.hw_free by lock 2) do nothing if no status update Without this patch, protected mod->status (= .trigger) might be overwrote by non protected mod->status (= .hw_params / .hw_free), and in such case, CTU/MIX/DVC/SSIU/SSI which are used from many paths might get damage. If above issue happens, Renesas Sound will be hung (= silence) and never be recoverd. I could reproduce this issue by continue playing very short sound with loop very long term (3-4 hours) through 2 inputs (= MIXer). For updating rsnd_status_update(), this patch removes rsnd_dai_call() debug message. Because we already have debugfs support, and is not good match to new code. Reported-by: Linh Phung T. 2021-03-16ASoC: rsnd: core: Check convert rate in rsnd_hw_paramsMikhail Durnev
snd_pcm_hw_params_set_rate_near can return incorrect sample rate in some cases, e.g. when the backend output rate is set to some value higher than 48000 Hz and the input rate is 8000 Hz. So passing the value returned by snd_pcm_hw_params_set_rate_near to snd_pcm_hw_params will result in "FSO/FSI ratio error" and playing no audio at all while the userland is not properly notified about the issue. If SRC is unable to convert the requested sample rate to the sample rate the backend is using, then the requested sample rate should be adjusted in rsnd_hw_params. The userland will be notified about that change in the returned hw_params structure.
