2024-11-11wifi: Switch back to struct platform_driver::remove()Uwe Kleine-König
After commit 0edb555a65d1 ("platform: Make platform_driver::remove() return void") .remove() is (again) the right callback to implement for platform drivers. Convert all platform drivers below drivers/net/wireless to use .remove(), with the eventual goal to drop struct platform_driver::remove_new(). As .remove() and .remove_new() have the same prototypes, conversion is done by just changing the structure member name in the driver initializer. En passant several whitespace changes are done to make indentation consistent in the struct initializers. 2024-09-28wifi: ath11k: allow missing memory-regionsCaleb Connolly
On SC7280 platforms which are running with TrustZone, it is not necessary to manually map the memory regions used by the wifi hardware. However, ath11k will currently fail to load unless both memory regions are specified. This breaks wifi on the rb3gen2 which only specifies the firmware memory region and does not use the CE region. Adjust the order of operations in ath11k_ahb_fw_resources_init() to check for the wifi-firmware subnode before attempting to parse the memory regions. 2024-09-02Revert "wifi: ath11k: support hibernation"Baochen Qiang
This reverts commit 166a490f59ac10340ee5330e51c15188ce2a7f8f. There are several reports that this commit breaks system suspend on some specific Lenovo platforms. Since there is no fix available, for now revert this commit to make suspend work again on those platforms. 2024-05-03wifi: ath11k: unmap the CE in ath11k_ahb_probe() error pathJeff Johnson
Currently, in ath11k_ahb_probe(), if a failure occurs after ath11k_ahb_ce_remap() is called, and if hw_params->ce_remap is enabled, the CE register memory is not unmapped. So add a call to ath11k_ahb_ce_unmap() in the error path. This issue was identified by smatch/smatch_scripts/kchecker: drivers/net/wireless/ath/ath11k/ahb.c:1218 ath11k_ahb_probe() warn: 'ab->mem_ce' from ioremap() not released on lines: 1218. 2024-05-03wifi: ath11k: refactor CE remap & unmapJeff Johnson
Currently the logic that handles hw_params->ce_remap is inline code, both for doing the remap and the unmap. An upcoming change needs to do the unmap in a second place, so refactor the unmap logic into a separate function. And although it is only called from one place, refactor the remap logic as well to have functional symmetry. No functional changes, compile tested only. 2024-04-24wifi: ath11k: allocate dummy net_device dynamicallyBreno Leitao
Embedding net_device into structures prohibits the usage of flexible arrays in the net_device structure. For more details, see the discussion at [1]. Un-embed the net_device from struct ath11k_ext_irq_grp by converting it into a pointer. Then use the leverage alloc_netdev() to allocate the net_device object at ath11k_ahb_config_ext_irq() for ahb, and ath11k_pcic_ext_irq_config() for pcic. The free of the device occurs at ath11k_ahb_free_ext_irq() for the ahb case, and ath11k_pcic_free_ext_irq() for the pcic case. 2024-04-09wifi: ath11k: support hibernationBaochen Qiang
Now that all infrastructure is in place and ath11k is fixed to handle all the corner cases, power down the ath11k firmware during suspend and power it back up during resume. This fixes the problem when using hibernation with ath11k PCI devices. For suspend, two conditions needs to be satisfied: 1. since MHI channel unprepare would be done in late suspend stage, ath11k needs to get all QMI-dependent things done before that stage. 2. and because unprepare MHI channels requires a working MHI stack, ath11k is not allowed to call mhi_power_down() until that finishes. So the original suspend callback is separated into two parts: the first part handles all QMI-dependent things in suspend callback; while the second part powers down MHI in suspend_late callback. This is valid because kernel calls ath11k's suspend callback before all suspend_late callbacks, making the first condition happy. And because MHI devices are children of ath11k device (ab->dev), kernel guarantees that ath11k's suspend_late callback is called after QRTR's suspend_late callback, this satisfies the second condition. Above analysis also applies to resume process. so the original resume callback is separated into two parts: the first part powers up MHI stack in resume_early callback, this guarantees MHI stack is working when QRTR tries to prepare MHI channels (kernel calls QRTR's resume_early callback after ath11k's resume_early callback, due to the child-father relationship); the second part waits for the completion of restart, which won't fail now since MHI channels are ready for use by QMI. Another notable change is in power down path, we tell mhi_power_down() to not to destroy MHI devices, making it possible for QRTR to help unprepare/prepare MHI channels, and finally get us rid of the probe-defer issue when resume. Also change related code due to interface changes. 2023-11-30wifi: ath11k: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new(), which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove(). Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. If we already have gotten the rproc_handle (meaning the "qcom,rproc" property is defined in the devicetree), it's a valid state that the remoteproc module hasn't probed yet so we should defer probing instead of just failing to probe. This resolves a race condition when the ath11k driver probes and fails before the wpss remoteproc driver has probed, like the following: [ 6.232360] ath11k 17a10040.wifi: failed to get rproc [ 6.232366] ath11k 17a10040.wifi: failed to get rproc: -22 [ 6.232478] ath11k: probe of 17a10040.wifi failed with error -22 ... Add support to process factory test mode commands (FTM) for calibration. By default firmware start with NORMAL mode and to process the FTM commands firmware needs to be restarted in FTM mode using module parameter ftm_mode. The pre-request is all the radios should be down before starting the test. When start command ATH11K_TM_CMD_TESTMODE_START is received, ar->state is set to Test Mode. If the FTM command or event length is greater than 256 bytes, it will be broken down into multiple segments and encoded with TLV header if it is segmented commands, else it is sent to firmware as it is. On receiving UTF event from firmware, if it is segmented event, the driver will wait until it receives all the segments and notify the complete data to user application. In case the segmented sequence are missed or lost from the firmware, driver will skip the already received partial data. In case of unsegmented UTF event from firmware, driver notifies the data to the user application as it comes. Applications handles the data further. 2023-03-15wifi: ath11k: fix deinitialization of firmware resourcesAditya Kumar Singh
Currently, in ath11k_ahb_fw_resources_init(), iommu domain mapping is done only for the chipsets having fixed firmware memory. Also, for such chipsets, mapping is done only if it does not have TrustZone support. During deinitialization, only if TrustZone support is not there, iommu is unmapped back. However, for non fixed firmware memory chipsets, TrustZone support is not there and this makes the condition check to true and it tries to unmap the memory which was not mapped during initialization. 2023-02-22wifi: ath11k: Use platform_get_irq() to get the interruptDouglas Anderson
As of commit a1a2b7125e10 ("of/platform: Drop static setup of IRQ resource from DT core"), we need to use platform_get_irq() instead of platform_get_resource() to get our IRQs because platform_get_resource() simply won't get them anymore. This was already fixed in several other Atheros WiFi drivers, apparently in response to Zeal Robot reports. An example of another fix is commit 9503a1fc123d ("ath9k: Use platform_get_irq() to get the interrupt"). ath11k seems to have been missed in this effort, though. Without this change, WiFi wasn't coming up on my Qualcomm sc7280-based hardware. Specifically, "platform_get_resource(pdev, IORESOURCE_IRQ, i)" was failing even for i=0. 2023-01-18wifi: ath11k: fix ce memory mapping for ahb devicesRaj Kumar Bhagat
Currently ath11k_ahb module is not loaded successfully and the wifi interface is not created. Kernel trace is seen while loading the ath11k_ahb module. The issue is seen in all ath11k AHB devices except in IPQ5018. This happens because in ath11k_ahb_probe(), ab->mem_ce is initialized with the value of ab->mem. However, at this instant ab->mem is not yet set. Later, during write to a particular memory via ath11k_ahb_write32() this ab->mem_ce is used with particular offset. Since ab->mem_ce is not set properly this possibly leads to memory conflict to handle kernel paging request and the below trace is seen. 2022-07-27wifi: ath11k: Fix register write failure on QCN9074Manikanta Pubbisetty
Commit 56c8ccf331bd ("ath11k: Add register access logic for WCN6750") regressed QCN9074. With the above mentioned commit, writes are failing for some registers on QCN9074 although the device seems to work normally. ath11k_pci 0000:03:00.0: failed to set pcie link register0x01e0e0a8: 0xffffffff != 0x00000010 ath11k_pci 0000:03:00.0: failed to set sysclk: -110 PCIe devices in ath11k (QCA6390, WCN6855, QCN9074, WCN6750) use window concept for register accesses. There are two schemes, dynamic & static window. In dynamic window scheme, a single window(region in the BAR) is mapped either to CE or DP register windows at any give time. QCA6390 & WCN6855 follow this scheme for register accesses. In static window scheme, CE & DP register windows are statically mapped to separate regions with in the BAR so that there is no switching of register windows between CE & DP register accesses. QCN9074 & WCN6750 follow this scheme although the window start offsets are different for QCN9074 & WCN6750. QCN9074 uses 3rd & 2nd window for DP & CE register accesses respectively whereas WCN6750 uses 1st & 2nd window for DP & CE. In QCN9074, along with 2nd & 3rd windows, 1st window is also used for certain configurations which commit 56c8ccf331bd ("ath11k: Add register access logic for WCN6750") did not account for and hence the regression. Fix this by going back to the original way of accessing the registers on QCN9074. Since this diverges from WCN6750 way of accessing registers, it is required to register window_read32/window_write32() pci_ops for WCN6750. We can also get rid of dp_window_idx & ce_window_idx members in hw_params, so remove them. Also add a new API ath11k_pcic_register_pci_ops() for registering pci_ops to the ath11k core. This API checks for mandatory pci_ops() and reports error if those are missing. Also initialize unused pci_ops to NULL. 2022-05-22ath11k: Init hw_params before setting up AHB resourcesManikanta Pubbisetty
As part of adding the support of WCN6750 to ath11k, bus_params were moved to hw_params and this regressed the initialization of WCN6750. By the time AHB resources are setup for WCN6750, hw_params will not be initialized and therefore initialization for WCN6750 will fail. This is applicable only for WCN6750, no other device is impacted. Fix this by moving the initialization of hw_params before setting up AHB resources. 2022-05-02ath11k: Add support for WCN6750 deviceManikanta Pubbisetty
WCN6750 is non-DBS 2x2 11AX chipset. Unlike QCA6390 which is a DBS (dual band simultaneous) solution (2 LMACs), WCN6750 has a single LMAC supporting 2G, 5G and 6G bands but will operate only on one band at any given point. WCN6750 is a PCIe based solution, but it is attached to the WPSS (Wireless Processor SubSystem) Q6 processor, hence it is enumerated by the Q6 processor. It is registered to the APSS processor (Application Processor SubSystem) as a platform device(AHB) and remoteproc APIs are used to boot up or shutdown the device like other AHB devices. Also, Device information like BAR and it's size is not known to the APSS processor as the chip is enumerated by WPSS Q6. These details are fetched over QMI. STA and AP modes are supported. Verified basic connectivity and ping in both the modes. An important point to note is that though WCN6750 is a PCIe device, it cannot be attached to any other platform except on Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs due to the aforementioned reasons. 2022-05-02ath11k: Move parameters in bus_params to hw_paramsManikanta Pubbisetty
In ath11k, bus_params were added with an intention to hold parameters related to bus (AHB/PCI), but this is not true as some bus parameters being different between chipsets of the same bus. With the addition of WCN6750 to ath11k, bus parameters are going to be entirely different among AHB devices. Therefore, it is wise to move bus_params to hw_params and get rid of bus_params entirely. Also, mhi_support parameter is not used anywhere in the driver, remove it from bus_params. 2020-11-07ath11k: cold boot calibration supportGovindaraj Saminathan
cold boot calibration is the process to calibrate all the channels during the boot-up to avoid the calibration delay during the channel change. During the boot-up, firmware started in cold boot calibration mode Firmware calibrate all channels and generate CalDb(DDR). Subsequent wifi bringup will reuse the same CalDb. Firmware is restarted in normal mode to continue the normal operation. caldb memory address send to firmware through the QMI message.Firmware use this address to store the caldb data and use it until next reboot. This will give the improvement during the channel change. But it is increasing the boot-up time(up to 15sec depend on number of radios). So if the user want to reduce the boot-up time and accepting for channel change delay, user can disable this feature using the module param cold_boot_cal=0.
